Monday in Astana - and its Snowing

Well, I'm in my first snow of the season. Not much of a snow, but then again it was horizontal while it was coming down, so maybe it never even hit the ground.

I found another great headquarters building at KMG. As nice as any big company anywhere I've seen. It's in the "new" city - where they are building blocks and blocks of brand-new buildings. Certainly rivals the HQ's I saw in Saudi Arabia and UAE. Those countries that have lots of oil and gas seem to have something going on right now.

Got to the office at 8:30, but they would not let us in -- too early! -- and I was even with the HR director. Several cell phone calls later someone OK'd us to get in. By then, we must have had 20 security guards watching us. I just wonder who they had to call to OK an HR director to get in the building.

I'm thinking of venturing out in the dark tomorrow - daylight is about 8am to around 5pm and seminar ends around 6pm, so I'm not sure how I'm going to do it. Maybe I'll wait until Friday afternoon when I'm out at noon and don't fly to Almaty until 8pm and setup a tour of some type.
